The Relevance of Holocaust Sites in the War against Ukraine

Join the Base and the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre for a discussion with three Holocaust-related sites of memory and education, that are helping with refugees and other urgent needs during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Ruslan Kavatsiuk, deputy director of Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center, Helise Lieberman, director of the Taube Center for Jewish Life & Learning Foundation, and Jakub Nowakowski, director of the Galicia Jewish Museum, talk about their work and how it has shifted from memorialisation and education to activism in the weeks since the war on Ukraine began. H.E. Liubov Abravitova, Ambassador of Ukraine in South Africa, delivered the opening address.
